ORLANDO/WINTER PARK

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a national organization that promotes advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.  Founded in 1881, AAUW offers scholarships, action for gender equity, and support for personal and professional growth, community leadership, and friendship.   At the state and national, AAUW values and seeks members of every race, creed, age, national origin, sexual orientation, and level of physical ability.

The Orlando/Winter Park branch was founded in 1928 and currently has over 100 members.  AAUW membership is open to all graduates who hold an Associate Degree or higher or the equivalent from an accredited college or university, as well as student affiliate groups.  Members enjoy the opportunity to meet other professional women and participate in numerous special interest groups.  Monthly buffet breakfast meetings (September – May) are held on the second Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  The March meeting, benefitting the scholarship fund, is traditionally dedicated to a Literary Luncheon featuring a published author.  Meetings feature diverse programs and speakers discussing current events and women’s issues.
