Guest Speaker
Carol Frost, Poet

Carol Frost “has quietly established a reputation as one of the foremost lyric poets of her generation.” Author of eleven books of poetry, her writing often references the Book of Genesis, the human body and objects of the natural world -- off the coast of Florida or a beehive. Her awards and honors include two fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts, and four Pushcart Prizes. The Poets’ Prize and Elliston Award committees have also honored her work.

Frost has held distinguished professorships at Bucknell University, Washington University, Witchita State University and SUNY Potsdam and has had several teaching residencies at the Vermont Studio Center. She founded and for 15 years directed the Catskill Poetry Workshop at Hartwick College. Currently Frost holds the Theodore Bruce and Barbara Lawrence Alfond Chair of English at Rollins College and directs the Winter with the Writers program, a festival of the literary arts.

Since 1881 AAUW has been promoting equity for all girls and women, lifelong education and positive societal change both on a local and national level.  Our special local project is PACE Center for Girls, which provides an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy.
